This is a varied management role combining people leadership, operational security and security systems management. You’ll lead an established team responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors, while also helping to develop and improve the organisation’s wider security provision.
The role would suit an experienced security professional who is confident managing people, has strong technical knowledge of security systems and is comfortable operating in a busy, public-facing environment.
The role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the security service, including:
- Leading a team consisting of a Supervisor and Site Stewards, with potential responsibility for a further team of Welfare Wardens
- Managing the performance, development and day-to-day operation of the security team
- Overseeing CCTV, access control, alarm and wider security systems
- Supporting the installation, integration and development of security systems rather than simply their day-to-day operation
- Developing and reviewing security policies, procedures and working practices
- Managing security incidents and ensuring appropriate escalation and response
- Overseeing aspects of parking and traffic management
- Liaising with contractors and external service providers
- Working collaboratively with teams across the organisation to maintain a safe and welcoming campus environment
- Supporting the delivery of an effective out-of-hours security service
The position is primarily Monday to Friday, 9am5pm, although some flexibility is required. As the manager responsible for an out-of-hours service, you may occasionally need to respond to calls outside normal working hours and, where necessary, attend site. This is expected to be rare. xwwtmva
