Company: X4 Technology
Apply for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Maidstone
Job Description:

Manufacturing Engineer | Electronics & Scientific Instrumentation | Rochester

Are you a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in electronics manufacturing, PCBA or complex electronic assembly?

I’m supporting an established, internationally focused science and manufacturing SME that is entering an exciting period of growth — and they’re looking for a practical, technically minded Manufacturing Engineer to help develop and improve their manufacturing processes.

This is a small, technically capable manufacturing operation, so it’s a role where you’ll be close to the products, the engineering team and the production floor. Rather than simply managing processes, you’ll be getting involved in solving problems, improving build methods and helping take products from engineering through to reliable manufacture.

What you’ll be involved in:

  • Supporting the manufacture and assembly of electronic products
  • PCBA / electronic assembly and production support
  • Cable and wiring assembly
  • Box‑build and system‑level assembly
  • NPI and engineering‑to‑manufacturing transfer
  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes
  • Creating and improving work instructions and manufacturing documentation
  • Investigating production issues and implementing practical solutions
  • Supporting product testing, inspection and quality activities
  • Improving yield, efficiency, quality and repeatability
  • Working with suppliers on components, manufacturing issues and improvements
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the production environment

What are they looking for?

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong experience in manufacturing engineering within an electronics environment
  • Hands‑on experience with electronic assembly, ideally PCBA
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods
  • Experience supporting NPI and transferring products from engineering into manufacture
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and assembly issues
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation
  • Experience working with components, BOMs and manufacturing documentation
  • A practical approach to process improvement and problem solving
  • Experience working in a high‑mix, low‑volume or technically complex manufacturing environment

Experience with any of the following would also be advantageous:

  • Box‑build / system assembly
  • Cable and wiring manufacture
  • Electronics testing and inspection
  • ERP / MRP systems
  • ISO 9001 / ISO 13485
  • Scientific instrumentation
  • Metrology or precision engineering

The key thing is that this is a hands‑on engineering role.

You’ll be working closely with production and engineering, getting involved in technical problems, improving processes and helping increase the manufacturing capability of a growing business.

It could suit someone currently working as a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, Electronics Manufacturing Engineer or NPI Engineer who enjoys being hands‑on and wants a role where their ideas and technical input can genuinely make a difference.

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
  • 33 days’ holiday including bank/public holidays
  • Death in Service, subject to eligibility
  • Permanent Health Insurance, subject to eligibility
  • Genuine opportunity to develop manufacturing capability within a growing technical business
