Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join an established food manufacturing business in Cambridge. This is a hands-on maintenance role focused on maximising equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting efficient production operations. The position operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with participation in a 1-in-3 on-call rota offering additional call-out bonuses.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance.




• Diagnose and repair faults on production and manufacturing equipment.




• Carry out electrical fault-finding on control systems, motors, sensors, and machinery.




• Support production teams to minimise downtime and maintain performance.




• Work with PLCs and industrial control systems.




• Complete maintenance records accurately and on time.




• Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects.




• Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, or Multi-Skilled Engineer.




• Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience.




• Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, or food production environments.




• Ability to diagnose and repair faults on industrial machinery.




• Good understanding of electrical safety and safe working practices.




• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.




• Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification or apprenticeship.




• Experience with PLCs, industrial control systems, sensors, and motors.




• Food manufacturing experience.




• Mechanical maintenance skills.
