Overview

As a Senior Controls Engineer – Sustaining at Edwards, you will champion best-practice control and visualization software for Clevedon PC products. You’ll improve software development processes, write specifications, and support release and installation documentation. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to plan, monitor, and optimize software activities while driving quality and safe practices. This role offers hands-on impact on product reliability and process improvement in a high- tech manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare software specifications
• Follow test procedures and risk assessments to ensure safe software validation
• Contribute to test document development and select appropriate test methodologies
• Plan short-term actions and report progress
• Contribute software plans to overall project planning and manage own priorities
• Support development of controls engineering processes and assess quality issues
• Create supporting documentation for software release and installation
• Provide technical content for manuals, build notes and service instructions; review others’ content
• Share knowledge and support colleagues to improve team capability

Key requirements

• HND or degree in a relevant technical discipline (controls or software)
• Minimum 5 years experience in controls and software within relevant industries
• HMI programming using VB.net or other high level languages
• Experience with compiling software
• Knowledge of Modbus and EdCentra XML communications protocols
• Creation of technical documentation
• Administration of software configuration control tools, version numbering, release process and archiving
• Familiarity with safety and design review methods (HAZOP, FMEA)
