Senior/Princpal Civil Engineer

Overview

As Senior/Principal Civil Engineer you will lead civil design and delivery across drainage, infrastructure and site development for projects in the UK, with hybrid work from Edinburgh or Belfast. You’ll balance technical excellence, commercial awareness and client engagement to drive on-time, within-budget outcomes. You’ll mentor junior engineers and help grow regional capability while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. This is a leadership-ready role offering progression and impact on major infrastructure delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design across drainage, infrastructure and site development
• Manage project resources, budgets and delivery programmes
• Support fee proposals and monitor profitability
• Engage with clients, contractors and regulators to secure approvals
• Mentor graduates, apprentices and junior engineers
• Ensure safety, quality and professional standards across projects

Key requirements

• Civil Engineering degree (BEng or MEng)
• Approximately 5–10 years’ industry experience
• Chartered status or working towards chartership
• Strong knowledge of design standards and best practice
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, and MS Office
• Strong communication skills and commercial awareness
