M&E Technical Author

Overview

In this role you will produce compliant O&M manuals for Scottish projects, coordinating data from design teams and suppliers. You’ll ensure documents meet NHS, SFT, and other frameworks while integrating digital asset data with BIM. You will support handover activities and maintain high-quality, lifecycle-focused documentation. Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver O&M Manuals for building fabric and M&E systems per industry standards
• Liaise with design teams, subcontractors and suppliers to gather as-built data and commissioning records
• Ensure documentation meets framework requirements (HFS/NHS, SFT, HubCo, private-sector)
• Support integration of digital asset data with BIM models (COBie, AIMs)
• Conduct quality reviews for technical accuracy and compliance
• Assist with project handover activities and client documentation/presentations

Key requirements

• 3–5 years’ experience producing O&M manuals or technical handover documentation
• Strong understanding of M&E systems, building fabric, construction processes, and digital workflows
• Familiarity with BSRIA, CIBSE, HFS, SFT, and sector standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems (Aconex, Viewpoint, Asite)
• Excellent written communication and ability to structure clear, compliant technical documents
• Strong organisational and coordination abilities to liaise at all project levels
