Senior Security Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help secure Microsoft’s operating systems, cloud platforms, and virtualization technologies at scale. You will partner with Windows, Azure, and platform teams to drive vulnerability discovery and protections, shaping secure design decisions. The role emphasizes deep systems work, impact delivery, and contributing to security tooling and methodologies. You will operate with a growth mindset to advance Microsoft’s security posture.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze security vulnerabilities across OS and platform components, including design and code review, fuzzing, and variant analysis
• Develop mitigations and protections to reduce risk across platforms
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle and improve secure practices
• Contribute to security tooling, detection capabilities, or analysis techniques for broader coverage
• Partner with organisations to translate findings into systemic security improvements and measurable outcomes
• Stay current on attacker techniques and industry trends to enhance security posture
• Provide technical leadership across teams for complex security initiatives

Key requirements

• Significant experience in security-related software engineering or a security-related field
• Hands-on experience with C, C++, or Rust
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements (Microsoft Cloud Background Check)
