Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer in Arcadis’ Places Design Practice, you will deliver elegant mechanical design solutions for buildings across sectors. You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary team to meet budget, schedule, and quality targets while supporting client goals. You’ll prepare drawings, specifications, and reports, solving technical issues under supervision and contributing to project-level design. This role focuses on improving the quality of life through sustainable, safe, and efficient building systems.

Responsibilities

• Tackle technical aspects of small projects or components within larger initiatives while meeting budget, schedule, and quality targets
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure integrated design solutions
• Prepare drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation
• Ensure allocated activities meet budget, timeframe, and quality objectives and client expectations
• Apply analytical, writing, and design skills at project level and help resolve technical issues under senior supervision

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Evidence of working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng)
• Previous experience designing mechanical systems within buildings
• Understanding of how individual design elements interface with the client
• Understanding of budgetary requirements
