AI/ ML Research Consultant

Overview

In this role you apply machine learning to real-world, high-stakes problems within a technology consultancy that values applied research and mentorship. You work on projects from exploration to working prototypes, combining off-the-shelf tools with custom components. You collaborate with clients to translate needs into technical solutions and contribute across the full experimentation cycle. You will grow through structured mentorship and cross-functional collaboration as you shape impactful ML solutions.

Responsibilities

• Review relevant technical literature and stay current with the field
• Form and test new ideas or hypotheses
• Build and train models for non-standard applications
• Rapid, hands-on prototyping and debugging
• Run structured experiments and interpret results
• Report findings and recommend next steps or further research
• Translate client needs into workable technical solutions
• Work across project lifecycles from concept to prototype

Key requirements

• Strong degree in a quantitative or technical field
• Evidence of research capability from postgraduate study, personal projects, or applied experience
• Confident Python developer with experience in at least one common ML framework
• Broad exposure to different ML approaches or fast learner
• Rigorous analytical mindset with genuine curiosity about the field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a small technical team
