Overview
As a Hardware Security Research Engineer, you will probe complex hardware and embedded systems to uncover vulnerabilities and develop hands-on PoC solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate findings into secure designs, addressing cyber-physical threats at scale. This role blends deep technical work with communication to stakeholders, offering a meaningful impact on hardware security. You will work with modern debugging tools to validate security concepts and demonstrate your results.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze hardware and embedded systems
- Identify hardware and cyber-physical security vulnerabilities
- Design and build proof-of-concept prototypes and demonstrators
- Debug hardware using tools such as JTAG, UART, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analysers
- Reverse engineer hardware and firmware where required
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver security solutions
- Present technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Key requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline
- Experience with electronics, embedded systems, or hardware development
- Hands-on experience debugging hardware and building prototypes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Eligible for UK security clearance
