Senior Cost Assurance Consultant

Overview

As a Senior Cost Consultant in our Cost and Commercial Assurance practice, you will lead cost and commercial reviews on NEC contracts, applying QS skills and audit techniques to validate costs and strengthen controls. You will blend traditional quantity surveying with digital tooling to boost efficiency and transparency, with hybrid work and client-site exposure. You’ll analyze compensation events, target movements, and disallowed costs, delivering clear findings and actionable recommendations. This role supports major programs and helps drive process improvements across projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute cost and commercial assurance reviews on NEC C/E projects, including open-book validation and discounting disallowed costs
• Support payroll/timesheet audits and cost verification across labor, plant, materials, and subcontractors, reconciling samples to records
• Evaluate compensation events, early warnings, and target movements with evidence-based analyses to avoid disputes
• Assess contract compliance and contribute to recommendations for process, data, and reporting improvements
• Prepare findings reports and dashboards for project teams and assist with closing actions
• Leverage data and low-code/no-code tools to automate testing and analytics for efficiency
• Communicate outcomes to stakeholders and support resolution actions

Key requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field
• Professional membership (RICS/CICES or equivalent)
• Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Option C and/or Option E) and payroll/commercial audits
• Core QS skills: measurement, estimating, valuation, change control, forecasting
• Proficiency with Excel and data analysis; interest in Power BI or similar; willingness to explore low-code/no-code solutions
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience with Power Query/Power Automate; basic SQL or Python exposure; sector experience in infrastructure
