Overview
In this role, you strengthen Klarna’s financial crime controls by providing independent, risk-based oversight of the AML framework in Second Line Compliance. You will apply regulatory judgement across AML activities, including SAR review under MLRO delegation, while partnering with AML Operations, MLROs, and senior Compliance leaders. Initially hands-on with regulatory tasks and gradually shifting to analytical oversight of control design and effectiveness across products and markets. You help ensure AML risks are understood, mitigated, and evidenced to regulators, contributing to a robust, compliant operating model.

Responsibilities
- Review and approve SARs under MLRO delegation to meet regulatory thresholds
- Investigate and assess SAR narratives for quality, completeness, and defensibility
- Provide structured feedback to AML investigation teams on SARs and investigations
- Escalate complex or sensitive cases to MLROs
- Oversee AML controls with a focus on Transaction Monitoring effectiveness
- Conduct thematic reviews of SAR outcomes, escalation decisions, and typologies
- Assess AML risk coverage across products and customer segments
- Support AML governance and documentation to ensure clear responsibilities across teams
Key requirements
- Experience in AML, financial crime, or compliance within a regulated financial institution
- Hands-on SAR processes experience including drafting, review, or filing
- Understanding of AML risk typologies and regulatory expectations
- Ability to apply independent judgement in complex or ambiguous cases
- Excellent written communication for SAR narratives and regulatory explanations
- Experience in a second line of defence, compliance oversight, QA, or risk function
- Exposure to transaction monitoring frameworks and scenario-based monitoring
- Experience supporting MLROs or preparing materials for MLRO decision-making
- Familiarity with EU and US AML regulatory frameworks and FIU processes
- Contributing to new product risk assessments, regulatory changes, or control enhancements
