Job Title: Production Manager
Due to continued growth, our client, a well-established and successful food manufacturing business based in Belfast, is looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager. This is a day shift, Monday to Friday role providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader to drive performance, lead a high-performing team and champion continuous improvement across a busy production environment.
The successful Production Manager will report into the Manufacturing Manager and take full accountability for health and safety, quality, service, cost and people performance across their area of responsibility.

The Role
Lead, direct, motivate and performance manage a shift based production team to deliver against all key performance targets across safety, quality, service, cost and people
Promote health and safety across the team, conducting risk assessments, safety inspections and audits and taking ownership of any improvement actions identified
Ensure quality standards are maintained, identifying and implementing action plans to reduce customer complaints and complete all necessary audits in a timely manner
Support NPD activity within the department with correct and timely management of recipes and trials
Deliver the people plan for the team including performance reviews, absence management and disciplinary and grievance processes
Manage the production wages budget, constantly reviewing costs and identifying savings opportunities
Identify and implement personal development plans and cost saving initiatives across the production area
Drive and sponsor continuous improvement across the department, embedding lean principles and a culture of accountability and high performance
Ensure effective communication across the team to maintain a results driven and engaged workforce
The Person
Essential:
Minimum of 2 years leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
Good understanding of manufacturing systems, procedures and safety standards
Analytical approach to problem solving with a logical and structured decision making style
Demonstrated experience of improving line and team performance
Proven track record in continuous improvement delivery
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
Desirable:
Food manufacturing experience
Knowledge of lean tools and techniques
Food hygiene qualifications
NEBOSH or IOSH training
Experience working within a trade union environment
Train the trainer qualification
Knowledge of basic baking techniques
