Job Title: Team Leader (Assistant Home Manager) — Children’s Residential HomeSalary: £36,000 – £38,000 per annumHours: 37.5 hours/week including occasional sleep-in shifts, evenings and weekendsLocation:Greenhithe – DartfordReports to: Registered Manager / Home managerAbout the RoleWe’re looking for a Team Leader to help lead and support our staff team in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care to children and young people in our residential home. This role sits just above a Deputy Manager level and is ideal for an experienced Deputy ready to take the next step into a more formal leadership position, or for someone already operating at Assistant Home Manager level looking for a new home.You’ll take the lead on shifts, support and develop junior staff, and help embed consistent, high-quality practice across the home, working closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesLead shifts and provide day-to-day direction to the staff team, acting as a role model for good practiceDirectly line manage a small team of Support Workers/Residential Child Care Workers, including supervision, appraisals, and performance managementSupport the delivery of individual care and placement plans, keeping children’s welfare and safety centralSupport, coach and mentor staff, helping build confidence and skill within the teamParticipate in the on-call/sleep-in rota, including evenings and weekends as requiredHelp maintain compliance with Ofsted standards, the home’s Statement of Purpose, and relevant regulationsContribute to incident management, risk assessments and safeguarding processesSupport recruitment, induction and training of new staffDeputise for the Deputy Manager/Registered Manager as neededEssential RequirementsExperience working in children’s residential careLevel 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) — essentialProven line management or supervisory experience, ideally within a care settingStrong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and relevant regulatory frameworks (Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations)Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and occasional sleep-in shiftsA full, valid UK driving licence (if relevant to your service)DesirableWorking towards or holding a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)Experience deputising for a manager or covering shift-lead responsibilitiesExperience with young people who have complex or trauma-related needs
