Overview
As part of the UK Actuarial Research team, you drive the development and refinement of pricing and valuation bases for UK life and health products. You’ll lead projects across mortality, morbidity and persistency research, and work on automation and advanced tools to raise efficiency. You contribute to market strategy, thought leadership, and external profile, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver data‑driven insights. This role offers meaningful impact in a global, innovation‑driven reinsurance business.
Responsibilities
- Develop and update best-estimate pricing and valuation bases for UK lines (Term, Whole of Life, Critical Illness, Longevity, Impaired Life)
- Monitor and review bases regularly; ensure timely updates
- Drive process improvement, automation, and adoption of advanced tools (AI, cloud)
- Contribute to actuarial research to enhance mortality, morbidity, persistency models
- Support marketing and industry engagement; present at events and client talks
- Engage in thought leadership and knowledge sharing within RGA worldwide
- Manage ad-hoc research projects on risk understanding
- Enhance knowledge of UK reinsurance products and markets to inform strategy
Key requirements
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary
- Minimum 3 years actuarial experience
- University degree in numerical subject, grade 2.1 or better
- Knowledge of mortality, morbidity, persistency concepts
- UK insurance market knowledge (Life, CI, Annuities)
- Ability to work with minimal guidance; strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel; statistics and statistical modelling
- Programming aptitude to improve processes (R/Python/SQL preferred)
- Team player with effective communication of complex concepts
