Principal HVAC Engineer – Contract

Overview

As a Principal HVAC Engineer at Wood, you will lead HVAC design for refinery, petrochemical and energy transition projects, delivering ventilation systems and equipment sizing while producing technical documentation. You may serve as Lead HVAC Engineer, guiding deliverables and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements and industry standards. You will support planning, change control, and budgeting, ensuring high-quality, on-time outcomes. This role offers exposure to complex FEED/EPCM work within a global engineering leader focused on energy transition and diverse sectors.

Responsibilities

• Deliver HVAC engineering solutions and ventilation system designs
• Size equipment and prepare calculations and specifications
• Produce technical documentation and design deliverables (BoD, VFDs, plant sizing, control philosophy)
• Act as Lead HVAC Engineer when required, reviewing deliverables
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements
• Support project planning and schedule adherence
• Manage design changes and change-control activities
• Ensure work complies with procedures, regulations, and budget constraints

Key requirements

• Degree in relevant field
• FEED/EPC experience
• Experience in client management and briefing
• Coordination experience within a multi-disciplinary environment
• Solid technical knowledge of HVAC/building services equipment and systems
• Good project management skills within HVAC
• Experience with Oil & Gas industry standards
• Knowledge of current green directives related to HVAC and building services
