Consultant – Senior Consultant, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Engineering, Defence & Security

Overview

In this SDET role you will design and build modern test automation to enable fast, reliable delivery for large, technically ambitious projects. You will work closely with developers, DevOps and business analysts to shape how quality is achieved across engagements. You’ll integrate automation into CI/CD, enhance test reliability, and mentor peers while contributing to Deloitte’s internal tools and accelerators. The position offers national impact in mission-critical environments and requires DV clearance. This is a hands-on, collaborative opportunity to elevate test practice across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement modern test automation frameworks for APIs, microservices, and front-end apps
• Embed test automation in CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions
• Write maintainable tests in Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Collaborate with client and Deloitte teams to define quality approaches
• Analyze failures to identify root causes and improve test reliability
• Mentor others and contribute to Deloitte’s internal tools, accelerators, and communities of practice

Key requirements

• UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
• Strong coding skills in Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience building or extending automation frameworks (API, web, or mobile)
• Familiarity with Selenium, RestAssured, Appium, Cucumber, or Playwright
• Experience with Git
• Experience in agile teams using Jira or Azure DevOps
