In this Data Scientist role at Tesco, you will tackle complex business problems with scalable data products across retail domains. Responsibilities

• Design and improve deep learning forecasting models for large-scale retail time series
• Build robust training and backtesting pipelines with time-aware evaluation and leakage controls
• Apply productionisation best practices including monitoring, retraining, and cost considerations
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business partners to ensure reliability and business impact
• Promote data science within Tesco and represent Tesco in external Data Science communities
• Mentor and supervise junior team members and interns
• Drive project innovation and manage stakeholder relationships

Key requirements

• Statistics background and programming skills
• Experience designing algorithms for large datasets
• Experience with time series forecasting using neural networks or related methods
• Strong Python programming and software engineering practices (version control, unit testing, CI/CD)
• Big data and cloud technologies (PySpark preferred)
• Experience training and deploying deep learning models in cloud environments (GPU-enabled)
• Stakeholder management experience preferred
• Mathematical, scientific, engineering or CS degree (numerical emphasis) preferred
