Education Solicitor – Birmingham

Overview

In this Education Solicitor role, you will manage a varied caseload in education law and support vulnerable clients. You will advise on matters from SEND Tribunal appeals to safeguarding and school disputes, while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to training. The position sits within a national firm known for client-focused education law work and aims to deliver practical, justice-driven outcomes. You will collaborate with schools, charities, and education bodies to shape policy and practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex education matters including SEND Tribunal appeals
• Advise on education law issues such as admissions, exclusions, and disability discrimination
• Handle complaints against local authorities and schools; conduct Judicial Reviews & UTT appeals
• Provide safeguarding and SEN strategy advice to schools/colleges; EHCP health checks
• Engage in community care matters linked to education; mix of private and public funding
• Supervise junior colleagues and review case files
• Build strong relationships with clients, charities, and education organizations
• Prepare and deliver training, seminars, and articles

Key requirements

• Solid experience in education law
• Public law/community care knowledge an advantage
