The Opportunity
Due to being awarded a significant work bank on a major water framework in the South East, a Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a Developer Services Contract.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for a programme of works, working as part of an established commercial team and alongside Project Managers and operational teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for long-term local work within the water and utilities sector, which is expected to see significant investment and continued growth over the next five years.
The role offers hybrid working.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will join a wider commercial team of eight and take responsibility for the commercial management of your programme of works.
The framework is administered under NEC contract conditions.
Key responsibilities will include:Commercial management of a programme of water and utilities worksCost forecasting and financial reportingValue engineering and cost optimisationSubcontract procurement and managementDrafting and negotiating complex subcontract arrangements, including professional services and appropriate terms of engagementChange management and commercial risk managementClient management and maintaining strong client relationshipsSupporting the production and delivery of margin improvement plansMaximising cash flow and effective WIP managementAgreeing and closing final accountsSupporting work-winning activities where requiredContributing to PQQ responses and technical/commercial submissionsWorking closely with Project Managers, operational teams and the wider commercial functionExperience Required
The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will ideally have:
A BSc or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying
Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
Experience working within the building, construction or civils sector
Strong knowledge and practical experience of JCT or NEC contracts
Experience managing the commercial delivery of programmes or projects
Strong subcontract procurement and commercial management experience
A stable career history and a genuine interest in long-term career development
Experience within the water and utilities sector would be highly advantageous, particularly Developer Services or similar frameworks.
