Job Description:

Contract Software Developer – C# / Golang / SQL

We’re working with a major technology-led organisation looking for an experienced Software Developer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for a real-time, high-volume transactional platform.

This is a hands‑on development role working across backend services, microservices and data-intensive applications in an environment where performance, reliability and scalability are critical.

The core technology stack includes C#/.NET, Golang and SQL Server, with the wider environment incorporating Windows applications, microservices, Kafka, Linux and cloud/web technologies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing highly efficient, robust and maintainable applications and backend services
  • Building and enhancing services using C#/.NET and Golang
  • Working extensively with SQL Server
  • Supporting and improving existing business‑critical functionality
  • Working within a microservices architecture
  • Identifying technical improvements and contributing ideas for new solutions
  • Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Engineering and Testing throughout delivery

Golang is mandatory for this contract. We are specifically looking for candidates with demonstrable commercial Golang development experience alongside:

  • Strong commercial C# / .NET
  • Strong MS SQL Server
  • Git/version control
  • Experience working with high-volume or data‑intensive systems
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills

The wider environment also includes Kafka, Linux, web/cloud technologies and external data providers, so experience in these areas would be highly advantageous. WPF exposure would also be beneficial.

£500–£520 per day | Outside IR35 | 6 months initially | Manchester | 2 days per week onsite

This would suit an experienced backend/software engineer who is comfortable operating in complex, performance‑focused environments and can contribute quickly across both Golang and the Microsoft stack.
