Android Developer – Government

Job Title: Android Developer

Duration: Six months

Day Rate: £400pd Outside IR35

Location: Four days remote, one day per week in Manchester

Start Date: Immediate

We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to join our team and contribute to a national-scale mobile app within a public sector organisation that prioritises engineering excellence. You will be part of a forward-thinking environment with a modern setup that includes automated testing, episodic branch deployments, and performance testing using AWS CodeBuild.

In this role, you’ll appreciate a focus on clean architecture and thorough test coverage. Working mostly remotely, you’ll be crucial in our efforts to deliver high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Integrate internal government services into a heavily utilised mobile app.
• Develop features end to end, maintaining high standards in testing and quality throughout.

Essential Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin
• Experience with Jetpack Compose
• Familiarity with MVVM and Clean Architecture
• Competence in automated testing (unit, integration/feature, and UI)
• Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of Java
• Experience with K6 for performance testing
• Familiarity with AWS and CodeBuild

Requirements:

• Prior experience in government or public sector projects
• Eligibility for SC clearance
