Senior Project Controls Engineer

Overview

As Senior Project Controls Engineer you support the Manchester-based Infrastructure Project Controls team, delivering performance reporting and analysis across rail, aviation, highways, water, marine/ports, utilities and nuclear projects. You will work with cost and planning engineers to establish robust baselines, monitoring methods and insightful reports that guide client decisions. You’ll engage with multiple projects, driving governance, risk reviews and continuous improvement in schedule management. Responsibilities

• Develop work breakdown structures and robust performance baselines with cost and planning engineers
• Establish progress and cost monitoring methods and produce project control reports
• Provide performance analysis and actionable recommendations for clients
• Maintain and monitor project schedules, baselines and buffers; manage critical paths
• Chair or participate in weekly progress meetings; prepare schedule narratives and risk discussions
• Coordinate interfaces and dependencies; design outputs to meet stakeholder needs
• Ensure quality through assurance reviews and self-checking of schedules
• Promote effective governance and communication with work package owners

Key requirements

• Experience in a project controls environment within the infrastructure sector (Rail, Aviation, Highways, Water, Marine/Ports, Utilities, Nuclear)
• Experience in Programme Controls Management, Earned Value (EVM), Change & Risk Management, Planning, Project Controls or PMO
• Knowledge of best practice planning principles and linking client lifecycle or procurement strategy to planning
• Technical competence in schedule construction, WBS, calendars, duration estimation, logic, critical path, resource and cost allocation
• Working knowledge of Primavera, Project Online, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject
• Assurance practices using Primavera Schedlog, Acumen Fuse, DCMA 14 Point Checklist
• Schedule monitoring and control; baseline management, progress data collection, performance measurement, variance reporting
• Ability to lead meetings, develop schedule narratives, and contribute to risk reviews and recovery planning
