Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Adult SDFS, Chelmsford

In this role you will provide senior clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team within the Chelmsford Specialist Dementia and Frailty Service, focusing on older adults with dementia and complex mental health needs. You will conduct high-level assessments, guide care planning, and support integration with memory and neuropsychology input. Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team
• Carry out new assessments for complex cases and supervise colleagues
• Conduct outpatient clinics (3 per week) and domiciliary visits (1 clinic)
• Perform complex memory assessments and supervise less complex assessments by nurses
• Coordinate care and manage active caseload with the help of psychologists for neuropsychology input
• Contribute to Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act assessments
• Be available for clinical advice and support the duty system for triage and urgent reviews
• Cover holidays/absences with colleagues through mutual consultation and agreement

Key requirements

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• GMC registration and on the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining CCT
• Meets Royal College of Psychiatrists criteria for appointment to Consultant
• Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status
• Full GMC licence to practice
• Excellent oral and written English communication; ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
• Licence to practice in the UK (driving licence or alternative)
• Disclosure and Barring Service check requirements
• Current UK professional registration
