As AI Research Scientist at Zebra, you develop on-device SLAM, VIO, and 3D spatial perception for resource-constrained hardware. You bridge research and production, prototyping algorithms and training models to run at the edge for AR and enterprise vision. You collaborate with global teams from our London hub and contribute to shaping next-gen spatial intelligence. Responsibilities
- Research, design, and implement robust VIO, 6-DoF pose estimation, and monocular SLAM pipelines for edge hardware
- Develop algorithms for spatial localisation, multi-view triangulation, sensor fusion, and plane-fitting to achieve sub-centimetre accuracy
- Translate research into real-time, low-latency algorithms on mobile NPUs, DSPs, and GPUs
- Build on-device AR experiences, barcode/shelf recognition, OCR, and multi-modal edge AI without cloud dependency
- Collaborate with global hardware, software, and product teams to integrate models into product roadmaps
Key requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field with focus on CV, Spatial AI, or Robotics
- ≥2 years hands-on R&D in SLAM/Spatial tracking systems
- Strong theory and implementation in SLAM and VIO
- Solid foundation in 6-DoF pose tracking, sensor fusion, and camera calibration
- 3D geometric vision knowledge: ray-plane intersections, epipolar geometry, bundle adjustment, monocular depth
