Overview
As Payroll Implementation Specialist, you will own a payroll system rollout for a Liverpool-based retailer. You will stabilise processes post-implementation, resolve issues, and drive end-to-end optimisation with a focus on accuracy and compliance. You will lead testing and UAT, document new procedures, and train payroll users and stakeholders. You will ensure adherence to UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, pensions, and company policies while transferring knowledge to the permanent team. This temporary assignment offers hands-on impact within a cross-functional change programme.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of payroll system implementation and ensure a smooth transition to BAU
- Identify and resolve outstanding payroll issues and stabilise processes
- Conduct diagnostic review of payroll processes and recommend improvements
- Lead payroll process optimisation for accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
- Support change management and stakeholder engagement
- Manage payroll testing and UAT, address defects before go-live
- Develop and document new payroll processes, controls, and best practices
- Provide guidance and training to payroll users and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC, pensions, and policies
- Support knowledge transfer to the permanent payroll team
Key requirements
- Proven experience in payroll systems implementation or management
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and compliance
- Excellent technical skills and familiarity with payroll software
