Overview
As MLRO for an online sports betting and casino-focused company, you will own the AML/CTF framework and provide independent oversight of financial crime compliance. You will act as the focal point for regulatory reporting and escalation to the board, guiding risk-based decisions. This remote, self-employed role offers a chance to shape the firm’s compliance posture and support regulatory readiness. You will work closely with senior management to drive effective controls and stay ahead of evolving requirements. Responsibilities
- Act as MLRO and Nominated Officer for SARs where applicable
- Oversee AML, CTF, sanctions and financial crime compliance
- Maintain firm-wide AML/CTF risk assessment and ensure risk identification, assessment and mitigation
- Develop and oversee AML/CTF policies, controls and monitoring
- Review internal SARs and determine need for external reports
- Maintain records of disclosures, investigations and regulatory reporting
- Challenge business decisions with respect to financial crime risk
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact on the organisation
- Report AML/CTF issues and risks to management and Board
- Prepare MLRO reports on effectiveness of the AML/CTF framework
- Liaise with regulators, law enforcement and other authorities
- Support regulatory inspections and information requests
- Escalate material financial crime risks and control weaknesses
- Maintain independence, authority and access to information for MLRO duties
Key requirements
- Hold a current PML with the UK Gambling Commission
- Relevant professional qualification in AML, Compliance, Financial Crime, Risk, Law, Finance or related field (desirable)
- AML/financial crime certifications such as ICA or ACAMS (desirable)
- Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Proven MLRO experience within Online Gaming (desirable)
- Strong AML/CTF knowledge and financial crime risk understanding
- Experience in assessing customer and business risk
- Strong CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring and sanctions understanding
- Analytical, investigative and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and ability to challenge senior stakeholders
