Overview

In Exeter, join a growing litigation team as an Employment Lawyer to manage and grow a dedicated employment law caseload. You will advise on contentious and non-contentious matters, handle tribunal claims, and support strategic guidance for employers and employees. The role combines client-facing work with business development to expand the practice, with hybrid working after probation and some travel. You’ll work alongside a broader litigation group to drive the firm’s employment offering and market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Manage tribunal claims and settlement negotiations
  • Provide strategic advice to clients (employers and employees)
  • Drive business development to grow the employment practice
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the wider Litigation team
  • Spend three days per week in Exeter with hybrid after probation
  • Travel to other offices for client meetings and marketing events
  • Contribute to marketing and BD initiatives to strengthen the practice

Key requirements

  • 3-5 years PQE (or more experienced candidates open to broader litigation)
  • Strong technical knowledge of employment law
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Proactive business development and client relationship skills
  • Strong communication and commercial awareness
  • Confidence in generating new work and building referral networks
  • Collaborative, positive, and professional approach
  • Proven track record in BD or existing client following (encouraged)
