Health and Safety Manager – International

Overview

In this role you will strengthen operational risk and resilience by embedding consistent H&S standards across international offices. You will lead the H&S Management System, ensuring ISO 45001/45003 compliance and driving wellbeing initiatives. Expect to oversee incident management, audits, training, and policy development, with a proactive focus on risk mitigation and governance. You will contribute to sustainability reporting and integrate H&S into broader risk frameworks, shaping a safe and responsible workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the H&S Management System across the firm
• Lead ISO 45001 certification planning and execution across international offices
• Oversee H&S incidents investigations, reporting, and escalation to senior leadership
• Manage H&S training rollout and integration into Learning & Development
• Develop and govern international H&S policies and policy publication
• Define H&S budget and resource needs
• Establish KPIs and reporting for governance bodies
• Drive continuous improvement of assessment tools and service providers
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement with HR, P&W, Risk, and Internal Audit
• Maintain and update MS documentation, dashboards, and records
• Prepare quarterly management reviews for H&S stakeholders
• Ensure governance and accountability across DSE, Stress Risk, Permits-to-work, and other assessments
• Lead international H&S assessments and governance across jurisdictions
• Embed MS requirements across training initiatives and system integration
• Guide management system roadmap (3–5 years) and readiness for audits

Key requirements

• Extensive experience managing complex management systems in a matrix organisation
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
• IOSH Certificate or working towards IOSH Diploma
• Good understanding of UK legislation and its international implications
• Practical experience implementing H&S systems and compliance programmes
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
