Systems Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive technology and product consulting for strategic accounts, supporting pre-sales efforts and technical demonstrations. You will lead PoC activities, design customer solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to win opportunities. The position emphasizes hands-on lab work, partner engagement, and shaping customer outcomes at scale. You will operate in a dynamic, world-spanning team with travel and growth opportunities as the company expands its digital transformation impact.

Responsibilities

• Technology and product consulting for account opportunities
• Technical sales support and presentations to customers and partners
• Support RFI/RFP responses; organize and lead Proof of Concept activities
• Design solutions meeting customer requirements
• Participate as a specialist on virtual teams and contribute to team activities
• Travel domestically/internationally as needed
• Potential to lead account team resources when required
• Collaborate with partners for technical training and validation

Key requirements

• Excellent presentation skills
• Successful pre-sales engineering track record in the industry and territory
• Strong knowledge of core networking technologies (Layer 2/3, IPv4/IPv6, overlay networking, VPNs)
• Wi‑Fi operation and design; network security principles
• Advantageous: cloud technologies, cloud-based management platforms, virtualization, network management/orchestration, SD‑WAN, automation scripting and APIs
• Ability to participate in design and PoC labs; set PoC criteria and overall solution designs
• Tenacity and customer advocacy; build and maintain customer/partner networks
• Willingness to lead team efforts for accounts when needed
• Experience with partners and major accounts; ability to close deals
• Extreme Networks certifications desirable; recognized industry certifications a plus
• Hands-on lab experience
• Future trends awareness and market direction understanding
• Ability to support customer evaluations and detailed designs
