Consultant Mental Health Old Age Psychiatrist

Overview

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will help lead and deliver high-quality care for older adults across community teams and enhanced care settings. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to support safe patient flow to and from Windermere and related services. The role offers leadership opportunities and cross-team rotation, with a focus on clinical governance, improvement, and evidence-based practice. This is a mission-driven post for shaping senior care in Doncaster’s older adult services.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership and expert guidance within community mental health teams
• offer diagnosis, formulation, and treatment planning for older adults
• support the enhanced care home team and 24-hour care nursing staff
• ensure care aligns with national guidelines and is safe, effective, and efficient
• manage administrative duties and running of the clinical team
• contribute to cross-site collaboration and service improvement
• participate in flexible reciprocal arrangements for annual and study leave
• work across community, home, and young onset dementia services

Key requirements

• Full GMC registration and license to practice
• Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register for Older Adult Psychiatry or be within 6 months of CCT
• Essential: Previous experience in Older Adult psychiatry
• Essential: IELTS 7.5 overall (speaking, reading, writing, listening) or provide alternative evidence
• Experience in a range of care settings and NHS management knowledge
• Commitment to CPD, audit, and clinical governance
• Desirable: MRCPsych or higher qualification, leadership/education interest
