Commercial FInancial Controller

Overview

As Commercial Financial Controller, you will own financial performance, reporting, and controls for a growing SME and translate numbers into actionable insights. You will partner with senior leaders to influence decisions and support growth through budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. You’ll lead the analytical work on profitability, sales channels, margins, logistics costs, marketing ROI, and inventory, driving informed actions. Report to the Group CFO and develop the Finance Manager, with responsibility for a German subsidiary. This is a broad, impact-driven role in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Own financial reporting, performance metrics, and the control environment
• Deliver commercial analysis and insight to support business decisions
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the business
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Analyse drivers of profitability and operational performance
• Provide insights on sales channels, gross margin, logistics, marketing ROI, customer acquisition costs, and inventory
• Manage and develop the Finance Manager
• Oversee financial requirements of a German subsidiary

Key requirements

• Experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Commercial Finance Manager, or similar role
• Strong commercial analysis and business partnering experience
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial control
• Experience leading or developing finance teams
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, ideally PowerBI
• Experience with ERP and reporting systems
• Analytical, commercially minded, able to challenge assumptions
• Comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level
