Senior Java Developer

Overview

In this role you will help modernize Prime Finance Equities trading platforms by building scalable, event-driven backend services. You will work on production systems within JVM ecosystems, contributing to platform transformation and market-expansion initiatives. You’ll drive quality through TDD, own critical data processing and recovery mechanisms, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable capital-markets solutions. This is a hands-on, autonomous role with opportunities to shape architecture and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for trading and post-trade platforms
• Build scalable event-driven applications and messaging-based integrations
• Develop services using Kotlin and Java within JVM ecosystems
• Contribute to architecture design and technology decisions
• Ensure software quality through Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Implement reliable data processing, event replay, and failure recovery mechanisms
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines and frequent production deployments
• Analyze and resolve complex production and performance issues
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across the equities domain
• Drive technical excellence and mentor other engineers
• Apply deep understanding of capital markets workflows to solution design

Key requirements

• 7+ years of Java development experience
• Any Kotlin experience is preferable or willingness to learn Kotlin
• Hands-on capital markets experience, particularly trade lifecycle and post-trade processing
• Proven experience building event-driven distributed systems
• Deep understanding of messaging concepts, including ordering, resiliency, replay, and failure handling
• Strong TDD practices with end-to-end ownership of quality
• Solid experience in Agile delivery, CI/CD, and trunk-based development
• Understanding of trade booking, position management, settlement, accounting, and cashflows
• Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills
• Ability to operate autonomously in complex, business-critical environments
