Overview

In this role you will lead a forward-looking research program at the intersection of AI and Human-Computer Interaction, collaborating with DMI and DeepMind to explore how humans and AI systems will interact in the future. You will translate findings for product and policy teams, shaping technologies and standards with global impact. Expect to design mixed-methods studies, create research artifacts and prototypes, and share insights through peer-reviewed work and presentations. This role offers the chance to influence both scientific discourse and real-world product innovation at scale.

Responsibilities

• develop and lead a novel research agenda on Human-AI Interactions
• collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues from DMI and DeepMind
• translate research findings for product and policy teams
• design, conduct, and analyze mixed-methods studies with human subjects
• develop artifacts (hardware/software prototypes, interaction techniques, metrics, benchmarks, agents, simulations) for advancing the field
• communicate findings via peer-reviewed publications, whitepapers, tech reports, presentations, and public channels

Key requirements

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Human-Centered Computing, Cognitive Science, or related field
• 6 years post-PhD experience conducting research on Human-Centered AI

• ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences
• collaboration across disciplines and teams
• strong written and presentation skills
• prototyping software or hardware for HCI experiments
• mixed-methods research design and analysis
• knowledge of AI, ML, HCI literature
