Centre Accountant

Overview

In this Centre Accountant role, you will support the Centre Finance Manager to ensure accurate reporting, robust controls, and clear insights for Westfield London. You’ll balance detailed accounting work with proactive business partnering to help manage costs, risks, and opportunities. You’ll engage with the Centre Management team and external stakeholders, contributing to process improvements and system changes such as SAP S/4. This is a hands-on role at a flagship destination with visibility across cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end activity and period-end journals
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations (bank reconciliations, tenant deposits)
• Partner with Centre Management through quarterly finance reviews to monitor costs and identify risks/opportunities
• Assist with annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for service charge expenditure and operating costs
• Coordinate joint venture funding, transfer listings and ad hoc finance requirements
• Prepare the Centre VAT return and liaise with external stakeholders as needed
• Support audits with external auditors (UK statutory, Group, service charge)
• Contribute to strengthening financial processes and controls, and participate in systems change initiatives (e.g., SAP S/4)

Key requirements

• Experience in accounting/finance roles with operational/business stakeholders
• Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance audiences
• Strong organisation and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Ownership mindset with focus on accuracy, controls, and timely delivery
• Collaborative with proven relationship-building skills
• Experience with service charge accounting, joint venture reporting, VAT returns, or audits (desirable)
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets (desirable)
• Experience in large real estate or complex business (desirable)
