Security Engineer III – Java / AWS

Overview

As a Security Engineer III within JPMorganChase’s Global Technology team, you design and deliver scalable, trusted security solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment. You’ll work across teams to strengthen threat detection, implement secure controls, and support cloud security integration, contributing to a secure, resilient technology base. Your work directly impacts customer and client protection while advancing security engineering practices. This role offers the opportunity to shape security architecture at scale and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, resilient security systems using Java and Python
• Execute security software solutions with emphasis on quality and performance
• Produce secure production code and maintain synchronized algorithms
• Create architecture and design artifacts for security applications
• Analyze large data sets to visualize and improve security systems
• Identify data patterns to improve coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contribute to security engineering communities of practice and events
• Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect in the team

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
• Hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficiency in Java
• Experience coding in modern programming languages and performing database querying in a large corporate environment
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Familiarity with agile methodologies including CI/CD, resiliency, and security
• Knowledge of security applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI/ML, mobile)
