Product Controller VP

Overview

In this VP Product Controller role you own daily P&L control and related processes within a global financial services business. You will partner with Risk, Treasury, FP&A, Tax and Ops to deliver accurate close, balance sheet substantiation and management reporting. The role emphasizes process improvement and automation, offering high exposure to senior stakeholders and a clear path to shaping the product control function. You will bring commercial understanding to drive efficient control while supporting new business onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Own daily P&L production, review and commentary across relevant business areas
• Manage month-end close, revenue and cost analysis and related financial controls
• Build relationships with stakeholders and partner with Risk, Treasury, FP&A, Tax, Operations and other Finance teams
• Develop detailed understanding of underlying businesses and operational processes
• Prepare and review balance sheet substantiation with valuation, legal entity and classification considerations
• Produce periodic management information, performance analysis and senior stakeholder commentary
• Prepare and review compensation and bonus calculations with sign-off from business and Finance management
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate Product Control processes with Technology and other stakeholders
• Support onboarding of new business areas and integration into Finance and Product Control processes
• Assist with internal and external audits and maintain robust Product Control documentation
• Help maintain a strong financial control environment across supported areas

Key requirements

• Strong Product Control experience with knowledge of P&L, balance sheet and financial control processes
• Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent
• Strong analytical and accounting capabilities with high attention to detail
• Confidence to interact with, influence and challenge senior stakeholders
• Experience across Finance and control functions (Risk, Treasury, Operations and FP&A)
• Strong Excel skills and experience with general ledger and financial systems
• Experience in a regulated financial services environment
• Track record of improving, automating or enhancing Product Control processes (advantageous)
