An established accountancy practice in Belfast is currently seeking an experienced Tax & Accounts professional to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant with 2+ years practice experience to take on a varied role across accounts preparation and taxation.

About the Job

Reporting to the senior team, you will work across a mixed portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for a range of accounts preparation and tax compliance duties. This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys working across both sides of practice and is looking to develop their career within a supportive accountancy environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
  • Assisting with or preparing management accounts where required
  • Preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Completing VAT returns and associated compliance work
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and completing bookkeeping duties
  • Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
  • Assisting clients with general accounting and tax-related queries
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Keeping up to date with relevant accounting and taxation requirements
  • Supporting colleagues across the wider practice team as required

Previous experience

  • Several years experience working within an accountancy practice environment
  • Experience across accounts preparation and taxation
  • Part-qualified or qualified by experience
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting and taxation principles
  • Experience preparing accounts for a range of clients
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Good IT and accounting software skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
