General Assistant

General Assistant Role, 26 hoursWe are seeking a dedicated General Assistant to join our team at Our Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Newry. The role is part time, 26hrs per week, 9am-2.30pm, 5 days out of 7.

This job involves Domestic, Kitchen and Laundry duties.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the on-duty Cook in all aspects of food preparation, operating laundry equipment to ensure garments and bedding are laundered in a timely manner, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across various premises and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants.

Previous experience work is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of designated areas, including offices, corridors, washrooms, and communal spaces.
• Food preparation, kitchen cleanliness and assisting in mealtimes.
• Ensure all cleaning tasks meet health and safety standards and organisational policies.
• Operation of laundry equipment and efficiency in tasks delegated.
• Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the premises.
• Restock supplies as needed to ensure continuous availability of cleaning materials.
• Follow organisational procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience in commercial cleaning or general assistant work is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organisational skills
• Good physical stamina and mobility to perform cleaning duties effectively.
• Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
