Office BasedContract: 12 MonthsRate: £40£44 per hourIR35: Outside IR35Working Pattern: 4-day condensed week availableSecurity Clearance: Must currently hold or be eligible for SC ClearanceWe are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an engineering team in Derby on an initial 12-month contract.This is a hands-on engineering design role rather than a CAD drawing position. You will be responsible for developing engineering solutions, progressing modifications through the full design and review process, and ensuring designs meet defined system and technical requirements.Due to the secure nature of the work, the position is office based in Derby. Candidates must either currently hold SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain it.Key Responsibilities:Mechanical design and development using Siemens NXDevelop engineering solutions from initial requirements through to final designTake modifications through the full design review and approval processInterpret and work from system and technical requirementsProduce and develop robust engineering designsCarry out design calculations and engineering assessments where requiredWork closely with systems, manufacturing and wider engineering teamsSupport technical and design reviewsEnsure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and project requirementsManage design changes and modifications throughout the engineering lifecycleProvide technical justification for design decisionsRequirements:Strong Mechanical Design Engineering backgroundProven experience using Siemens NXExperience working on complex engineered products or systemsStrong understanding of engineering design principlesExperience taking designs/modifications through formal design reviewsComfortable working from system and technical requirementsAble to provide engineering input beyond simply producing drawingsPrevious Rolls-Royce experience would be a strong advantageCurrently hold or be eligible to obtain SC ClearanceThis is a 12-month contract offering £40£44 per hour, Outside IR35.The role is office based in Derby due to the nature of the project, with the option to condense your working hours into a 4-day week if preferred.
