You’ll be joining our
Highwaysmaintenance
team, asthe UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latestinnovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of servicesincluding planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.
We’re looking for parttime HGV Cat C (Class 2)drivers, with CPC, to work on our Hampshire Highways Maintenance contract asWinter Maintenance drivers.
The drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract tocover the Winter Maintenance season from 1st October2026 until 30th April 2027.We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a zero-hour contract basis.
Interviews for successful candidates will be scheduled fromSeptember onwards. We welcome applications from individuals who can travel tothe Depot within approximately 45 minutes.

What will you be doing?
You’ll drive a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle for theduration of the winter maintenance season, being allocated to a rota within theHampshire area.
We’ll need you to be on standby alternate weeks i.e., oneweek on standby followed by one week off throughout the winter maintenanceseason.
You’ll undertake the gritting of the roads on your allocatedroute and all the associated activities required to deliver the WinterService.
What you’ll bring
Afull UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and afull CPC is essential.
Avalid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience. If, however,training is required, training for the City and Guilds qualification willbe arranged for October 2026.

What’s in it for you?
The Winter Maintenance Season rota will commence onthe 1st October 2026and will finish on the 30th April 2027. Drivers must committo being on standby alternate weeks for the duration of the service. A weekstarts at 07.00 am on the Friday and finishes at 07.00am the following Friday.When you are on Standby, you can be called out at any time to undertake a gritrun.
Current pay mechanism
Standby payment will be £160.65 per week or £22.95 pernight.
An additional £75 per day will be paid for Christmas Day,Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.
