Mechanical Engineer

Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer in Eaton MSD Cheltenham, you contribute to designing and delivering mechanical and integrated solutions for safety- and mission-critical aerospace and defence systems. You’ll work under supervision, developing capability through mentoring and hands-on training. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and support manufacturing and supply chain. Responsibilities

• Prepare technical documents and develop product data within your domain under oversight
• Assist design delivery to meet project schedule and budget
• Understand requirements under supervision of senior engineers
• Support manufacturing and supply chain with DFM/DFT awareness
• Provide engineering estimates for your contributions
• Communicate proposals to peers and line managers under guidance
• Author documents in PLM and release via ECR process
• Support configuration and change management under supervision
• Understand security, export licences and ITAR requirements with guidance
• Design and detail mechanical assemblies with manufacturing awareness
• Read and lay out drawings to British/International Standards with guidance
• Basic awareness of electrical wiring, electronics handling, and software domains
• Perform basic FEA analysis under supervision
• Apply APQP/PPAP basics per AS9145
• Understand environmental requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft software for role

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Entry-level with supervision and mentoring acceptable
• Ability to read drawings to standards and lay out components
• Basic FEA capability
• Awareness of security, export licensing and ITAR with guidance
• Experience with PLM and ECR processes preferred
• Good communication and ability to present ideas
