Stock Controller
to join a busy distribution operation based in Northampton.This is a hands-on warehouse position with a strong focus on
stock accuracy, inventory control and investigating discrepancies .The successful candidate will take ownership of stock integrity, ensuring physical stock accurately matches the warehouse management system and helping identify improvements to reduce errors.The company operates from a modern
140,000 sq. ft. distribution facility
and offers a fast-paced but supportive working environment.The Role
As a Stock Controller, your responsibilities may include:Completing scheduled cycle counts, spot checks and stocktakesMaintaining accurate stock records using the warehouse management systemInvestigating stock discrepancies and identifying root causesProcessing authorised stock adjustments and maintaining an audit trailChecking products, quantities, barcodes and warehouse locationsIdentifying and correcting misplaced or incorrectly labelled stockMonitoring stock movements, receipts, replenishments and despatchesControlling damaged, returned and quarantined stockMonitoring stock rotation, batch information and date-sensitive products where applicableWorking closely with Goods In, Picking, Packing and Management teamsReporting recurring discrepancies, damaged stock and process issuesSupporting warehouse audits and continuous improvement projectsRecommending improvements to increase stock accuracy and reduce picking errorsSupporting the wider warehouse operation when requiredFollowing all health and safety procedures and reporting hazards or near missesThe role involves
manual handling, occasional heavy lifting, use of material-handling equipment and working at height . Full training and site authorisation will be provided where required.Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for candidates who have:Previous experience as a Stock Controller, Inventory Controller or in a similar warehouse stock-control roleExperience using warehouse management systems, barcode scanners or stock-control technologyStrong attention to detail and numerical accuracyThe ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve stock-related issuesBasic Microsoft Excel or spreadsheet skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsA self-motivated and organised approachThe ability to prioritise workload and work independentlyA positive attitude and willingness to work across different departmentsExperience within a fast-paced warehouse, distribution or ecommerce environmentReach Truck, Counterbalance or other MHE experience would be beneficial but is not essential.Full MHE and working-at-height training will be provided where required.Salary & Benefits
