This is a key role within the finance team, with responsibility for strengthening the day-to-day finance operation, developing the team and creating more efficient ways of working.Why join our client
This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of a finance function and make practical improvements that will last. You’ll have the freedom to review how things are currently done, strengthen financial controls and tackle historic issues rather than simply maintaining existing processes.You’ll work closely with senior finance leadership while managing and developing the wider team. The organisation is looking for someone who brings ideas, takes responsibility and enjoys finding simpler, more effective ways of working.
How you’ll make an impact
Take ownership of day-to-day financial control and ensure the finance function runs effectivelyReview management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, resolving issues and improving accuracyStrengthen financial controls, documentation and core finance processesLead statutory reporting, audit preparation and key compliance requirementsOversee payroll accounting, reconciliations and pension processingManage HMRC requirements, including corporation tax payments, P11Ds and PSA reportingOversee short-term cash deposits, treasury activity and payment approvalsDeliver regulatory and other external financial reportingInvestigate historic accounting issues and take ownership through to resolutionIdentify opportunities to automate, simplify and improve finance processesProvide clear updates and financial insight to senior finance leadershipLine manage the finance team, with a particular focus on coaching and developing the Management Accountant
Why you’re a great fit
You’ll be a technically strong finance professional who enjoys taking ownership. You’ll be comfortable getting into the detail when needed, but equally capable of stepping back, identifying what needs to change and making it happen.
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)Strong financial accounting, financial control and statutory reporting experienceGood understanding of UK accounting, tax and compliance requirementsProven ability to improve processes and strengthen financial controlsConfident reviewing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliationsStrong Excel skills, with an interest in using systems and technology to improve financeComfortable solving complex or long-standing accounting issues independentlyProactive and resourceful, with the confidence to make well-reasoned decisionsAble to lead, coach and hold a finance team accountable without unnecessary hierarchyCommercially aware, with the ability to balance strong controls with practical business needs

£75,000-£80,000 salary0.8 FTE option at £60,000-£64,000Annual profit share , subject to performance and business results, with payments of up to £3,600 potentially available free of income tax23 days annual leave
