JOB PURPOSETo design a wide range of bespoke products ensuring compliance with client specifications, legislative requirements, quality and HSE standards.To work independently or as part of a team to develop new or existing products that meet the mechanical technical requirements of form, fit and function.To provide a professional mechanical engineering service to the business and so interface with customers and suppliers to ensure activities are completed to meet or improve program, cost and quality expectations.2.
JOB ACTIVITIESWork with the wider team to help develop customer requirements and understand their potential implications to the businessDevelop concept solutions and support discussions to compare and contract different options. Seek input from manufacturing department, supply chain contacts and project teamFurther develop selected concepts in sufficient detail to enable production of detail definition drawingsAction risks and opportunities as the design develops so they can be understood by the wider teamPrepare engineering calculations in support of detail design schemesPresent designs at design reviews as requiredParticipate in research and development activitiesCarry out and take responsibility for site survey activities on an occasional basisUse IT packages effectively in the course of engineering activities (excel, word, mathcad, CAD, PDM, PLM, etc.)Interpret engineering drawingsGenerate concise and presentable sketches and reports for issue to a range of customersInterpret and implement engineering specifications and standardsSelf-development to meet new requirementsManage project timescales and achieve or improve deadlinesProvide progress status reports to line management on a regular basis and work to achieve or improve company and customer objectives of program, cost and qualityProvide an engineering resource for other departmentsWork in accordance with the company standard business processesAssist with or carry out any other activities as required by your Line Manager.3.
