Commercial Finance Manager

Company: Talentedge
Apply for the Commercial Finance Manager
Location: London
Job Description:

London | Hybrid

Talentedge are partnering with a fast-growing FMCG food & nutrition scale-up to hire a Commercial Finance Manager as their third finance hire.

The business has grown rapidly across multiple channels and is now investing in its finance function to bring greater commercial insight and rigour to the next stage of growth.

Reporting directly into the Head of Finance, this will be a broad but heavily commercial role. You’ll work closely with the founders and senior commercial team across retail, D2C, pricing, margin, NPD and customer profitability.

As an early member of the finance team, you’ll also have significant scope to shape how commercial finance operates as the business scales.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of commercial finance across the business, including:

  • Business partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations and the founders
  • Owning commercial budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis
  • Providing insight across retail, wholesale and D2C channels
  • Customer and SKU-level profitability analysis
  • Gross margin analysis across pricing, product mix, ingredients/input costs and customer terms
  • Supporting negotiations and commercial decisions across major retail customers
  • Pricing, promotional and trade investment analysis
  • Financial modelling and commercial assessment of new product launches
  • Supporting the NPD process from initial business case through to post-launch analysis
  • Improving visibility around marketing spend and ROI
  • Building reporting and commercial models that give leadership better visibility over performance
  • Supporting the Head of Finance with wider strategic projects, planning and decision-making

The Candidate

We’re looking for someone who combines strong financial fundamentals with a genuinely commercial mindset.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience within FMCG, food & beverage, nutrition, health & wellness or consumer products
  • Strong commercial finance, FP&A or business partnering experience
  • Good understanding of margin, pricing, promotions, customer profitability and SKU economics
  • Experience working with Sales and Marketing teams
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Confidence operating in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment
  • An appetite to be hands-on rather than working within a heavily structured finance function

Previous scale-up experience would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious consumer business while the finance function is still being built.

As the third finance hire, you’ll have considerably more ownership than you’d typically get in an established finance team, with direct exposure to the Head of Finance, founders and senior commercial stakeholders.

You’ll play a key role in building the commercial finance capability the business needs as it moves through its next stage of growth.
