Senior Python Engineer is needed for an Clean Energy Tech firm, who are enabling a smarter, more flexible, and zero‑carbon electricity grid.
With the energy system rapidly evolving and the demand for flexible, reliable, and zero-carbon electricity increasing, the focus of this role is on building the technology that enables smarter energy trading and power management. Working within a cross-functional, agile team, you’ll help develop our software platform, building scalable and reliable backend services that support automated energy trading, high‑frequency telemetry from battery assets, and real‑time control and dispatch across UK and international markets.
As a Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain cloud-native services using Python and modern backend technologies, working with frameworks such as FastAPI or Django, alongside PostgreSQL and other distributed databases, event‑driven technologies such as Kafka or Pulsar, and cloud infrastructure across AWS. You’ll work on high‑volume data processing, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems, with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. You’ll also contribute to technical direction, engineering best practices, and mentoring within the team, while taking end‑to‑end ownership of the systems you build, including participating in an on‑call rotation. The role requires a pragmatic and adaptable approach, balancing long‑term technical strategy with the changing needs of a fast‑moving energy industry.

Paying up to £800/day Inside IR35
