Interim Head of Legal Services
NHS Organisation | Band 8c-8d (£75,000-£100,000 pa pro rata) | 6 Months | Hybrid
We are supporting an NHS organisation with the appointment of an experienced Interim Head of Legal Services to provide leadership and stability during an important period for the legal function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified legal professional to lead an established in-house team, overseeing day-to-day legal services while providing expert advice across a broad range of NHS matters.
The Role
Reporting into a senior executive, you will:
- Lead and support a small team of legal professionals, including qualified solicitors
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of legal services and ensure high-quality advice across the organisation
- Provide legal leadership on a range of operational, governance, regulatory and litigation matters
- Support ongoing legal workstreams and organisational priorities
The role combines hands-on legal work with people leadership and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a high-profile healthcare environment.
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who:
- Are a qualified Solicitor or Barrister
- Have significant experience working within the NHS and understand the legal and regulatory framework of healthcare organisations
- Have experience leading legal teams and managing complex legal workloads
- Are a confident advisor, able to build credibility with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and a collaborative leadership style
- Can quickly assess priorities and provide stability and support to an established team
Package
Initial 6-month interim assignment.
- Potential opportunity to be considered for a longer-term or permanent appointment
- Salary flexible from Band 8b to Band 8d depending on experience
- Hybrid working with predominantly remote working available
- Approximately one day per week on site
- Immediate requirement, with candidates able to start by the end of October particularly welcomed.
