Civil Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across highways, drainage and development infrastructure. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team in a London office, contributing from planning through to construction on varied schemes. You will collaborate with clients, contractors and design teams to translate concepts into buildable solutions that meet regulatory requirements. This is an opportunity to develop technical expertise and progress within a well-established consultancy that works across education, residential, commercial and public sectors.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil engineering design drawings and specifications for planning, pricing and construction
• Design highways, drainage and development infrastructure
• Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS)
• Carry out highway and pavement design and earthworks/cut-and-fill assessments
• Model underground services and utilities, flood alleviation schemes and pumping stations
• Prepare and support S278, S38 and S104 agreements
• Engage with wider design teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders
• Attend construction sites to respond to contractor queries and monitor works against design
• Provide technical input from concept through to completion
• Support continuous improvement within the civil engineering team

Key requirements

• Civil Engineering degree
• Experience in a similar civil engineering consultancy role
• Knowledge of S104, S106, S185, S278, S38 agreements
• Understanding of Building Regulations Part H and Part M
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Experience using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage
• Strong drainage design and SuDS knowledge
• Experience with highways and earthworks/cut-and-fill design
• Good communication and client-facing skills
• Proactive problem-solving and technical design mindset
• Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status or professionally qualified
