Senior Team Manager, Analytical Chemistry

Overview

In this role you will lead Abbott’s analytical chemistry laboratory at a major site, ensuring timely release, stability testing, and lifecycle management of combination products. You’ll shape a growing team, drive GMP-compliant operations, and set technical direction for HPLC, dissolution, and related assays. You’ll collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and R&D to deliver compliant, high-quality products at scale. This is a strategic leadership role with a strong focus on continuous improvement and regulatory readiness.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, coaching, and development for analysts, scientists, and laboratory supervisors
• Foster a safety- and quality-focused culture with continuous improvement
• Plan resource allocation to support current operations and future growth
• Drive KPI-based performance and operational excellence in the lab
• Ensure timely execution of product release, stability, and investigative testing
• Maintain GMP, ISO 13485, and global regulatory compliance
• Lead investigations including OOS, OOT, and deviation management
• Serve as analytical chemistry expert for HPLC, impurity testing, dissolution, and content analysis
• Support method development, transfer, validation, and lifecycle management
• Provide technical guidance to Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, and R&D
• Develop long-term lab capability and technology strategy
• Lead lab modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support new product introduction and combination product programmes
• Represent the site during audits, inspections, and technical forums

Key requirements

• Significant experience leading teams within GMP-regulated analytical labs
• Strong technical expertise in analytical chemistry (HPLC, dissolution)
• Experience with analytical method validation, transfer, and lifecycle management
• Solid understanding of GMP, data integrity, and regulated lab environments
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical teams
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
